The first thing to notice about Cdim is that it has a muted string. When strumming you will either want to avoid playing the G string, or you can touch it lightly with your thumb and it will mute it. We put our index finger on the second fret of the E string. Next the middle finger plays the third fret of the C string and the ring finger plays the third fret of the A string. Keep your top finger joints perpendicular to avoid muting other strings. If you play the G string without muting it, the chord will not sound right.
